A great and delicious home cooked meal!

Updated: Oct 28, 2020

As a college student, I definitely miss home cooked meals. I've been trying to come up with my own go-to meals, that I can cook in my apartment.

Recently, I have put together an extremely flavorful, yet cheap dish. It's essentially pasta with chicken, but somehow so much flavor is packed in this simple dish.

I'm not going to add any measurements, specific steps, etc., since everyone cooks differently and has different appliances. I hope someone is merely inspired by this dish.

To start off, I boil water to make linguine. At the same time, I throw some sliced chicken into a pan with butter. After, I add this incredible Italian olive oil, that I got from the Pepper Palace in Helen, GA. I would recommend this olive oil since it can transform anything into an appetizing meal.

For seasonings, I sprinkle garlic salt, pepper, vegetable seasoning, and basil. I also add some mushrooms, that are great at soaking up flavor.

I let everything cook. When it's done, I throw the linguine into the pan and mix it with everything else.

The taste is just exquisite. The chicken is so juicy from cooking in the olive oil. Just the olive oil alone makes the chicken flavorful. However, the seasonings elevate the meal, and help make it savory. You definitely don't have to worry about this meal being dry or bland.

To balance out the flavors here, I pair the dish with a vegetable of some kind.

Overall, it's a savory, salty, Italian influenced meal. The olive oil and seasonings stand out, but at the same time, highlight the chicken, mushrooms, and pasta. All of the ingredients are nicely represented here.

This meal can be achievable for college students, families, or people with little cooking experience. You don't need a culinary degree or expensive ingredients to have a delicious home cooked meal!
