Lately, I've been having a sweet tooth, so when I came across PEARL, A Cottage Makery, I couldn't have been more excited to try some baked goods.
Walking into this bakery, you're greeted by southern chic, yet simple surroundings. There's a display case of cupcakes, cookies, and other treats.
For my order, I chose a turtle, the chocolate candy, and three cupcakes: turtle, Oreo, and Reese's.

I was given a large turtle. Before taking a bite, I thought it would be hard, but it was actually quite soft and almost melted in my mouth. The first ingredients that hit me were the caramel and pecans. As I indulged in the sweetness, a second wave of flavor hit me: saltiness. This turtle showcased everything from big flavors to small ones.

The turtle cupcake was my favorite. It had an amazing blend of flavors and textures. What stood out first was the nuts, then the creaminess of the icing and toppings, and finally the chocolate taste of it all. For a loaded cupcake, it wasn't too sweet for me.
One thing all of the cupcakes I had, had in common was their lightweight, sort of airy quality. I think this is owed to their icing/cream topping, which I love since heavy icing is not my style. The cake itself was also very moist and soft.
The Oreo and Reese's cupcakes were excellent in dishing out the flavor they promised, and were simple in presentation. They had this sort of whipped or fluffy icing/cream on top. They were each adorned with a miniature candy.
Overall, these treats were divine, and satisfied my sweet tooth for a moment, but now I have a need to go back for more. Try this bakery, you won't regret it!
