Review of Blossom Kitchen (Chinese food)

Tallahassee, FL

For a while I've been craving Chinese food. I finally fulfilled my cravings with a trip to Blossom Kitchen. This Chinese restaurant is popular for takeout food, but it also offers a nice dining area. At this place, you can get Chinese-American takeout dishes or branch out and try something new. They also have bubble tea.

My friend and I split two dishes. We got the eight precious ingredients & Japanese tofu clay pot and the pork intestines with pickled vegetables. Meals usually come with rice. We also got an appetizer of sesame balls.

The wait wasn't long, but it seems at night they get busy with takeout orders.

For the sesame balls, they are a fried Chinese pastry made from rice flour. These were crispy on the outside and glutinous in the inside. There was also red bean paste in the middle. These were nice and sweet to eat.

Next, the pork intestines with pickled vegetables. Pork intestines don't sound appealing to some people, but it was good. It was very soft in texture, and delicate and sweet in flavor. There was a hint of sourness from the pickled vegetables, which nicely balanced out the flavors. Overall, it was sweet and savory, with a hint of sourness.

The Japanese tofu dish came in a steaming hot clay pot. It was essentially a dish of seafood like squid, shrimp, and crab with vegetables and tofu. This dish was also sweet in flavor. It was more of subtle dish, but still very filling. I would say this dish is also sweet and savory.

In general, these dishes seemed to be somewhat sweet. They were very filling and left a warmth inside me. I would suggest the sesame balls to someone wanting a sweet snack. I would recommend the pork intestines to someone wanting to try something new. Lastly, I would suggest the Japanese tofu dish to someone who loves seafood.

If you're craving Chinese food, checkout Blossom Kitchen! You won't regret it.
