When you walk into Boru Boru, you’re greeted by the calm and serene atmosphere. The lighting fixtures add to the modern meets Asian fusion vibe. There's bamboo-looking pieces, and hanging bulbs. Plants dot the place here and there. Every decoration adds a nice touch to the place without being in your face.
The worker that assisted me was very kind and helpful. No complaints. Customer service done right.
Now onto my meal. I chose to customize a poke bowl. Boru Boru allows you to pick a base, one protein, four veggie ingredients, and one sauce. I chose sushi rice for my base, and tuna for my protein. I selected oven roasted mushrooms, mango, masago fish roe, and seaweed salad as my four toppings. Lastly, I topped everything off with poke dressing.
I was met with my poke bowl in less than five minutes. It wasn't the busiest of times, so that might have something to do with it.
Not only was I happy to see the food, but I was also pretty happy when I saw that the food looked like it was in a biodegradable bowl. Not bad for the environment.
The presentation was definitely something to write home about. It was arranged in a delectable way that showcased each and every one of the ingredients. Something satisfying about every poke bowl is their colorful presentation, and this one did not let me down. One thing that made its presentation unique was this green dust that was sprinkled over the top, but it only added more to the taste.
The first thing that hit me was the freshness of the tuna. In my opinion, the freshness of the protein is what makes or breaks the meal. It is safe to say that I was thoroughly satisfied with the tuna.
The boldest flavors of the meal were the sweetness from the mango and the saltiness from the mushrooms and poke dressing. The seaweed salad added to the tender, soft texture of the meal, along with the tenderness of the tuna, mango, and mushrooms. The masago fish roe is what added the little bit of crunch to the meal, in just the right way.
I can’t write much about the smell of the meal. It didn’t have a strong smell. It faintly smelled of sweet, salty smelling sushi. Let’s just say I was fortunate enough to not have to deal with stinky, fishy breath afterwards.
The pros about this meal was that I was able to cure my afternoon appetite, while still having leftovers for a pre-dinner snack. Not only did I get a lot of food, but I also got it for a good price.
I’ll definitely have to go again and try other food. Hopefully, at a busier time to see if anything changes.
I would recommend Boru Boru to anyone who loves seafood and Asian food. It’s one of those little finds that makes a big impression!

This sounds so good. I love how you described the ambiance of the restaurant in addition to the food. Now I want to find a place that that sells poke bowls. Great work. Keep the reviews coming!
